Legislative elections in Argentina

Argentina will hold legislative elections on October 27. One third of the members of the Chamber of Deputies will be renewed (127) as well as third of the members of the Senate (24).

Currently, the Chamber of Deputies has a 37.35% representation of women members of parliament, while the Senate has 38.89%. Argentina is one of the three countries in America with a woman as head of Government.

Argentina was the first country in the world to establish a quota law in 1991, paving the way for other Latin American countries, such as Bolivia, Costa Rica and Peru.
